How is active safety different than passive safety?
There are many things to love about Mercedes-Benz vehicles. No matter what model you prefer, you know that you are getting a luxurious, high-quality, high-performing ride. Mercedes-Benz truly is second to none. With all of that said, we still want you to remember that above all else, safety is the most important part of your vehicle. You can have all the glitz and glamour in the world, but if your car isn’t safe to drive, you have no business getting behind the wheel. There are active safety features and passive safety features. Active safety features are meant to prevent accidents and collisions from happening. Examples of such features include blind spot monitoring, automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and lane-departure warning. These features all help to keep you aware of your surroundings and thus help prevent collisions with other motorists and pedestrians. What is Mercedes-Benz MAGIC BODY CONTROL®?
Trade in those broomsticks and pointy hats, the Mercedes-Benz MAGIC BODY CONTROL® offers something even better. We thought we would take a look at just what this system actually is. So without further ado, here is the Mercedes-Benz MAGIC BODY CONTROL®. How does the MAGIC BODY CONTROL® Work? 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class exterior front passenger side on grass road mountain lakeThis magical system uses two small cameras behind the windshield of your car in order to can the road that is ahead of the vehicle. This is called the ROAD SURFACE SCAN. This scans up to 15 meters in front of your car as it is driving down the road, and measures the height of the dips and bumps that the road has. Then, the suspension uses the active hydraulics in order to compensate for the bumps in the road. This works up to a speed of 130 km/h, or about 80 miles per hour. This ability to somewhat ‘predict’ the dips in the road through a camera enables the vehicle to have a much smoother ride than that of a normal vehicle. The suspension is individually adjustable. Which means that each can be adjusted for the portion of the road they will be going over. So, if there was a bump on one side of the lane, but not the other, it could be compensated for.
