What is the Mercedes-Benz PRE-SAFE® system?
Even to the most attentive driver in the world, accidents still happen. Mercedes-Benz has made it its mission to make this happen as little as possible, however, and reduce damage and injury as much as possible. Do do so, the brand offers Mercedes-Benz PRE-SAFE® system in all of its available models.
Mercedes-Benz PRE-SAFE® is a system that works to prepare and protect passengers in an accident, before it even happens. The system is able to sense when a collision is unavoidable thanks to sensors placed throughout the vehicle, which function with multiple other safety systems. Once an incoming collision is detected, the systems acts to prepare you for it by tightening front seat belts, adjusting front head restraints and even close windows and the sunroof.
DISTRONIC PLUS® with PRE-SAFE Brake
The DISTRONIC PLUS® system uses advanced radar sensors in order to scan the road ahead for any potential accident sources like stopped or slowing traffic. In the event that the system senses an unavoidable frontal collision, the PRE-SAFE® Brake is automatically applied at 40% braking power while also providing the driver with an audible alert. The system also triggers the beginning of the PRE-SAFE® system.

What is PRE-SAFE® Sound?
The system also features the PRE-SAFE® Sound feature, which produces a “pink noise” throughout the vehicle’s audio system when it senses a collision in order to subconsciously alert your ears to prepare for the loud sounds that tend to go along with an automotive collision.
